Curious to learn more about how we might work with one another?
Hi there!
My name is Katie Cunningham (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who believes that meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely seen, understood, and safe enough to be honest. I strive to create an inclusive, supportive space where clients can show up as they are, without fear of judgment.
In my therapy work, my caseload is comprised of individuals, couples, and parents. I have a particular passion for supporting teens and young adults as they navigate identity development, emotional regulation, relationships, and life transitions.
To me, mental health work goes beyond the therapy room. In addition to clinical work, I’m passionate about mental health education and advocacy. I enjoy leading workshops and trainings, speaking to larger audiences, and writing about mental health topics with an emphasis on accessibility, nuance, and reducing stigma.
Supporting other therapists through supervision and consultation also offers an opportunity for me to connect with other providers, and offer potential guidance that can help strengthen their confidence. No one is immune to “imposter syndrome” and it’s my belief that therapists especially need non-judgmental support in navigating the work that they do.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy all sorts of immersive experiences that help me to connect with different people and perspectives. Whether that be through travel, reading, writing, or enjoying a meal— all offer me an opportunity to explore, tap into my creative side, and honor my personal sense of adventure!
My Approach
Warm, curious, and collaborative.
I believe people make the most progress when therapy feels like a relationship rather than a performance. I aim to meet clients with empathy and encouragement, while also being direct and thoughtful when it’s helpful.
My style is both gentle and honest. I value authenticity and, when appropriate, use humor and relatability to help clients feel more at ease. I’m deeply inspired by the courage it takes to engage in this work, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they grow, heal, and reconnect with themselves.
My therapeutic style integrates evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, ERP, and IFS-informed “parts work.” Rather than adhering rigidly to one model, I tailor treatment to the unique needs, goals, and lived experiences of each client.
I often work with clients to:
-Deconstruct internalized beliefs and self-criticism
-Increase psychological flexibility and emotional awareness
-Build confidence and self-trust
-Learn how to tolerate discomfort without avoidance
-Develop healthier relationships with themselves and others
